Job Description: The Role: This role will be flexible depending on the candidates experience and training. We are looking for someone to join our outdoor Forest school team. The role will be from 8:00-5:00 Monday-Friday with the occasional weekend for events.  (Any weekend hours worked will be owed back to you in toil) You will be part of the outdoor team and therefore your role will be outdoors the majority of the time. You will be expected to liaise with the indoor team about the children’s learning, development and curiosities.

Qualified Forest School Practitioner: If you are a Qualified Forest School Practitioner/Soon to qualify then this role will enable you the chance to lead small group sessions with children from 2-5 years.  The role is for someone with a passion for outdoors, and who is familiar with the Early Years Foundation Stage.

You will be in charge of planning the sessions and for ensuring you plan for children’s individual curiosities. You will be working alongside your Forest School Leader who will support you with your role and give you any training/support that you need to develop practice further. You will be expected to observe the children and give detailed handovers/feedback to the indoor team. You will be monitored/mentored by the Forest School Leader who will ensure you are meeting our Outstanding expectations.

You will lead small Forest School sessions in accordance with the established policies and procedures of the setting. Whilst supervising the children, you will establish routines and boundaries to ensure the wellbeing and safety of the children, ensuring that any safeguarding concerns are dealt with without delay following the settings safeguarding procedures.

In addition to your day to day duties, you will be expected to maintain and develop the site, carry out daily cleaning and attend staff meetings. You will be expected to complete both in house and any additional training to ensure you remain up to date with legislation and implementation of best practice, including Health and Safety.

Unqualified: If you are an Unqualified candidate who is looking for the opportunity to train as a Forest School Assistant then this role will be an amazing opportunity for you. The role will be working alongside a Forest School Leader supporting them with planning activities for the children and planning future developments for the woodlands. The candidate will be given the opportunity to go on Forest School training and gain a Forest School qualification. (Any training will involve a training contract) You will be working with children daily in the woodlands and therefore it is essential you have a passion for outdoors in all weathers.  You will not be expected to lead your own group alone, but will be given lots of support by the Forest School leader to gain the skills and knowledge to be able to do this in the future.
