About NETA

What is NETA?

NETA is a prototype online surveying tool designed to evaluate the impact of outdoor learning programs on participants. It collects feedback from parents, participants, and session leaders to track changes in five key areas such as confidence, creativity, resilience, independence, and wellbeing over time.
What does it do?
Well quite simply it is a tool that automatically sends out questionaires to consenting survey participants at the correct time. NETA helps session leader’s save time by scoring and creating helpful visual representations of the responses for each participant. This enables them to use evidence based practice to reflect on their swessions and delivery over time without struggling with the cost of collecting feedback. It helps them create meaningful reports to funders and Senior Leaders and advocates for outdoor education. The survey responses help leaders see what is going on for their learners and how that manifests at home.
NETA sends out three surveys, once at the beginning, once in the middle of the programme and one at the end of the programme of outdoor learning. This supports the participant or students progress and shows a change over time, which could be helpful for leaders in securing more funding from a school or PTA, showing evidence to grant making bodies or in evidencing the beniefits of their programmes. Each survey has 25 linked questions that help the leader demonstrate the development of confidence, creativity, resilience and iondependence of their learners, whilst keeping an eye of wellbeing.
NETA also helps organisations like the FSA and other organisations champion outdoor learning by submitting fully anonymised data, into a secure database, to be used in large scale national or international research into outdoor learning. This research could be used to change national educational policy, inform senior leadership teams and help support educational health care planning.
Why Are We Testing NETA?
NETA is a brand new tool and like any new tool we need to check that it works for the majority of users, therefore we (FSA) need to:
- Ensure it functions correctly (e.g., surveys are sent, collected, and scored properly).
- Ensure good usability for parents, participants, and leaders.
- Gather feedback to refine the app before its final release.
Your insights during this phase are vital in helping us create a better, more effective tool.
