Liverpool University – The HUB

The University of Liverpool, founded in 1881, is one of original redbrick universities and one of the founders of the Russell group. It is a public research university, with three faculties, 35 schools and departments. Based close to the city centre of Liverpool, it hosts more than 22,000 students on campus, with more than 400 undergraduate and postgraduate courses. The School of Environmental Sciences, within the Faculty of Science and Engineering, was established in 2009 and has two departments, Geography and Planning, and Earth, Oceans and Ecology Sciences. Our research is focused exploring our planet (from above to deep down) to understand in which manners our communities, societies and ecosystems respond to changing environmental, economic and social contexts.

The symposium will take place in the Teaching Hub (also known as ‘The Hub’) which is over the road from one of Liverpool’s most Iconic buildings the Metropolitan Cathedral.  This is a fantastic modernly equipped building which has a facility with lecture rooms, conference rooms and study rooms and will easily cater for 300 people.  The versitility of the space allows us freedom to present research and posters, encourage peer discussions, create specialist interst groups.  Although the symposium will take place on the first floor the building is easily accessible to all.
