Job description: Little Forest Folk is looking for a Nursery Manager.
We are an exciting and forward thinking company offering a new type of childcare for families in London. Our aim is to address the increasing disconnect between children and nature, so we have opened London’s first full-time outdoor children’s nursery. Our children spend most of the time playing in a safe and secure outdoor area near Wimbledon. We are getting busier and busier and now require a full-time Manager. This is a unique and exciting opportunity to be at the cutting edge of a new kind of childcare.
Key responsibilities:
- Main point of contact for parents
- Development and implementation of policies
- Management of 5 to 10 full and part time staff: rosters, hours, leave, administration, etc
- Ensuring regulatory compliance
- Remain abreast of current developments in childcare and education policies and practices
- Facilitate Ofsted inspections and to implement any recommendations
- Staff appraisals and development
- Reporting to Managing Director
Person specification : Our prospective Manager must have a minimum of Level 3 NVQ in childcare, an understanding of the EYFS and be DBS checked. They must have managed other nursery settings (of up to 30 children), including staff. The Manager must be an excellent communicator, be well organised to manage and organise staff. Ideally they should have a strong affinity for the outdoors and be happy to spend the majority of time in an outdoor forest setting.
In addition to the above, the following attributes will be considered favourably:
- Forest School Association qualification
- More than 2 years experience as a manager or deputy manager of a nursery with 30 or more children per day
- Experience in managing other staff, including designing rosters, allocating tasks and organising activities
- Good references from current/previous employers and parents
- Food hygiene certificate
- Paediatric first aid certificate
- A valid driver’s licence
It’s an important job and we value our staff highly – we also aim to offer bonuses as and when we can – when we reach a certain level of occupancy we will be giving all our staff bonuses to thank them for helping us create such a wonderful nursery that our occupancy is increasing !
It` nice to see a decent salary advertised for this position. So it should be!
