• Local Forest Learning Leader (several locations) 7 positions available
Initial “as &when” (Zero hours contract) for an initial 12 month fixed term contract with potential for further 2 year fixed full time contract (37.5 hours per week) at full time annual salary of £20,000
• Local Forest Learning Assistant (several locations) 7 positions available
Initial “as &when” (Zero hours contract) for an initial 12 month fixed term contract with potential for further 2 year fixed full time contract (37.5 hours per week) at full time annual salary of £14,625 This is an opportunity to be integral part of an exciting new learning collaboration between Schola Foris CIC and Archimedes across several forest locations throughout England. Forest Learning Leaders and Assistants will be developing and delivering formal and informal learning opportunities, forest school programmes and curriculum enrichment experiences to children, young people and families. Reporting to our National Learning Manager, our local learning teams will be responsible for ensuring that all participants in our wide range of forest based activities not only have an enriching and enabling learning experiences, but have a full appreciation of the importance of trees and forests for timber, wild life and people.
Forest locations are : North Yorkshire, Lincolnshire, Leicestershire, Gloucestershire, Cornwall, Hampshire, Kent
Our ideal candidates should have:
• experience and/or qualifications in environmental education
• minimum Level 3 Forest School Qualification ( for the Local Forest Learning Leader)
• minimum Level 2 Forest School Qualification or training for L3
• great enthusiasm for forest education and learning
• flexibility to work with a variety of different client groups
• willingness to further develop their skills and expertise
• experience of developing and maintaining relationships with stakeholders
• a demonstrable ability to share their passion for the natural environment

Job Description
To deliver a range of forest learning activities to a variety of client groups
To deliver other types of less formal learning activities : family events, woodland birthday parties
To deliver and assist in the delivery of teacher training: how to take the curriculum outdoors
To develop the number and range of activities at the local Forest location
To take team leader responsibilities and supervision of Forest Learning Assistants
To develop good relationships with stakeholders of the local provision
Job Responsibilities
• In conjunction with the National Learning Manager, devise and deliver a variety of learning programmes to different groups
• Ensure monitoring and evaluation of all activities through client feedback
• Actively seek to improve our service and the quality of our provision
• Be actively involved in assisting in meeting the criteria of the cLOTC quality award
• Ensure that all agreed KPI’s are met at the local forest location
• Take responsibility for developing and managing the relationship with 3rd Party Regional Learning team
• Ensuring that all sites used within the Local Forest Area are managed in accordance with guidelines and take responsibility for maintenance
• Actively participate in local marketing initiatives to further develop the offering at the Local Forest
Person Specification
Essential Knowledge, Experience and skills
• Minimum L3 qualification relating to the environment/outdoors/Forest School Practitioner Qualification. (The expectation is that candidates should already meet, or be prepared to meet the FS L3 standards set by Archimedes through further training and CPD throughout the life of the contract, working to the established protocols of both organisations: Schola Foris and Archimedes)
• Experience with working with children, young people and adults outdoors in a learning capacity
• English and Maths at GCSE or L2 equivalent
Desirable Knowledge, Experience and skills
• Degree Level Study relating to the environment/outdoors or teaching
• Understanding of the national curriculum
• Programme design and delivery
• Previous supervisory experience
• Understanding of the principles of Health and Safety
• Understanding of equality and diversity matters
• Minimum L3 qualification for working with children and youth
• Outdoor paediatric first aid qualification
Other requirements
• Friendly, good communicator with empathetic approach
• Organised and committed to improving quality of provision
• Willing to extend own learning and develop skills
• Full Driving Licence
• Access to a motor vehicle for regular use
• Willingness to undertake evening and weekend work
