27/05/2020 8pm – 9.30pm

What we see, is mostly what we looked for.

What is reflective practice? How do you do it? Why is it important? These are questions Caylin has been asking herself since her introduction to Forest School in 2015. Her blog, Forest Schooled, was born out of the “requirement” to keep a learning journal for the level 3 Forest School Leader qualification and she now acknowledges the profound impact it’s had on the direction of her work (and life!).

In this webinar, Caylin will share what she’s learned about the theories, practices, and benefits of reflective practice and how its inherent invitation to “Don’t just do something, stand there!” instead of “Don’t just stand there, do something!” has helped bring balance to her professional learning and development. Participants will be invited to join a discussion on the ways we can embed reflection into our practice, and how to overcome the challenges we may face in doing so, to enhance the quality of our own experiences and those of our learners at Forest School, and beyond.

Caylin’s website is www.ForestSchooled.com, and her blog resulted in ‘Forest Schooled – The Book’, published in 2019 and a must-read for all budding and flourishing Forest School leaders.  She has established and run Forest School in several countries and now works as a consultant and mentor in Canada.
