We are delighted to announce that Lily Horseman, Chair of the FSA, has successfully completed the Forest School Trainers quality assurance scheme and is now an FSA Endorsed Forest School Trainer.
Lily was part of the working group that developed the QA scheme, in partnership with the GB Forest School Trainers Network. As an FSA director she was not eligible to be part of the pilot group that tested the scheme. However, Lily now joins a growing group of FSA endorsed Forest School Trainers who are responsible for shaping the Forest School qualifications and informing FSA policy.
Lily says, “Going through the FSA Trainers QA Scheme gave me real impetus to examine the training processes I use. As a tool for reflection it has been really rich and fruitful, providing me with ways to raise the quality of the experience for participants on my courses. The range and scope of the benchmarks, combined with the interviews that were conducted between the panel and my students gave my final interview with the panel real depth and gave me the opportunity to be challenged and supported. I feel really privileged to be part of the group of trainers who have gone through the QA process and I’m looking forward to learning alongside them and using their support to continue to develop.”
Great news to have a growing group of Endorsed trainers. Lily brings an experienced, reflective, wise way of looking at the world of Forest School.
Let’s hope for more trainers to join the group. To be able to influence the national Forest School story, share practice and learn together.
Well done Lily.
