🌳 Dangerous Toys with Rupert Loch @feralscienceltd
Join Rupert Loch for this uplifting workshop learning to create and play with dangerous toys. There is an understandable nervousness about including toys that are perceived as being dangerous within Forest School sessions. In this session you will be introduced to a range of Dangerous Toys including Catapults, Shepherd’s Sling, Atlatl and Dart and Boomerangs and given the chance to use them and understand the risks attached to their use and appropriate precautions. There will be a chance to discuss key aspects of Risk Assessment while making a boomerang and developing a skill you can take back to your own FS sessions.

🌳 Finding stories everywhere! With Creeping Toad
Join Gordon aka Creeping Toad to find out how, as leaders we can see that there is story to every space, a path to every action and a tale for every experience. This workshop with Gordon the Creeping Toad offers quick activities to create stories: building adventures out of found material, a walk across a site, by simply exploring, adding characters and dilemmas and finally looking at ways of holding onto those new stories to tell again somewhere else.

🌳 Invisible Architecture with Mell Harrison
What makes a Forest School feel like home? In this interactive session, we’ll explore how culture is built through connection; not just with nature, but with each other. From morning welcomes to shared meals, mascots to meaningful rituals, we’ll look at how small acts of care create powerful ecosystems of belonging. This workshop invites educators and leaders to reflect on their own cultural practices and co-create new ones. We’ll share examples from Kinda Education’s work in Suffolk, including how visual identity, relational policies, and community voice shape inclusive, emotionally intelligent environments. Expect storytelling, practical tools, and a renewed sense of what it means to facilitate from the heart.

A practical hands on workshop using a variety of simple tools to create a weigh scale from natural materials for exploring mathematical, science and engineering principles and problem solving challenges. Revisit or explore a range of tools, make a weigh scale to take away and learn some simple science and engineering principles to help solve a range of practical mathematical problems, to engage and entertain both you and your clients.

🌳 From Basics to basecamp with Peter Moreton @redoaksbushcraft
In this session we will explore tarps in basic setups, using various useful knots, hitches & bends that are easy to untie (really important when working with thin cord under tension) and easy to adjust. There will be several really useful tips and tricks to incorporate in to your tarp use and sessions. Once we have looked at setting up a basic tarp, we will move on to setting up a large base camp tarp, including easy ways to get your tarp high and tight, and ways to make your rigging slick and safe. This is a fully hands on session which lots of practice to get those knots correct. We might even make it a bit fun (smiley)
